Opti-Lube
Soda (Sodium) Based Block Grease
This is the #1 choice of steam railroad operations throughout
North America.
Customers frequently comment on reduced bearing surface wear, cooler operating temperatures and less grease consumption.
Our block grease includes special wear reducing additives and is very hard (above NLGI-8), although it's still malleable enough to be pressed into grease sticks.
This grease comes in 4" x 4" x 8" blocks, packed 50 pounds (approx.) per carton.

Some
customer comments:
“This is the best block grease we’ve ever
used….we’re very happy with the product.”
-- Eric B., Durango &
Silverton NGRR
“We were having trouble with the journals
and some drive rods running warmer than they should…regardless of the grease
we used or how often we grease. Last season we used your block grease…we did
not have a hot journal the entire season. Some of the crews did not grease at
all on the run, even on the longest trip.”
-- John K., Alberta Prairie Steam Tours
“Since July 1995 we have been using your
block grease in the cellars of our steam locomotives. Compared with the grease
we were using before, we are having excellent results. Journals are running at
cooler temperatures and we are using significantly less grease. As a result, we
are having to repack fewer grease cellars.”
-- Jack C., Cumbres
& Toltec Scenic Railroad
“Axles which ran at about 120°
now run much cooler with your grease, and grease consumption is considerably
lower on the entire engine.”
--Roger S., Yolo Shortline Railroad
